Goodbye Flash?

Here’s what's happening with Adobe Flash.

flash to html

Adobe announced that after December 31st, 2020, it will no longer support the flash player plug-in. Following this announcement, Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla also announced that the Flashplayer plug-in will be disabled by default in their browsers by the end of 2020.

Converting Flash to HTML5 is necessary as Flash-based content will no longer function after 2020.

Browsers
HTML5 is equipped with features such as cross-browser compatibility, rich media support, and semantic enrichment that influence the next generation of e-learning content, systems, and applications.
Content in a single source can be delivered through multiple devices. This makes it easier for users to access applications and eLearning content on-the-go.
Devices
Game
HTML5 can be especially beneficial for gamified eLearning content, a mode of learning that is particularly effective. So, if your organization’s eLearning repository, such as simulations, animations, interactive audio, and video content, is based on Flash, it's time for you to convert Flash to HTML5.
HTML5 explicitly addresses the security shortfalls of its predecessor and provides new ways to create highly interactive learning content. The Local storage feature on HTML5 is a cross between regular cookies and client-side databases. This feature allows storage across several windows and devices simultaneously. HTML5 ensures improved security and performance.

Fast
HTML5 offers an offline application cache. It allows pages to load even when users are temporarily offline. This lessens the load placed on servers and provides a faster overall load time for users.
